Rahul Gandhi in J&K: Congress Leader launches poll campaign with two rallies today
The 90-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly election will take place in three phases: September 18, September 25, and October 1. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi will start his party's campaign on Wednesday, September 4, with two major rallies in the Ramban and Anantnag districts. These rallies are aimed at supporting Congress candidates contesting in the first phase of the elections.
Campaign details and alliance
Rahul Gandhi will first campaign in Banihal for Vikar Rasool Wani, the former JKPCC chief. Later, he will head to Dooru in Anantnag to support Ghulam Ahmed Mir, Congress general secretary, and former minister. According to JKPCC chief Tariq Hamid Karra, Gandhi’s campaign is expected to boost the party’s election efforts and improve its prospects in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Congress has formed a pre-poll alliance with the National Conference (NC) for the assembly elections. The NC will contest 51 seats, while Congress will contest 32 seats. One seat has been left for CPI (M) and another for the Panthers Party. This election marks the first since the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
The results of the election will be announced on October 4.
